OLED Backlight Developer Texas Company Offers Powerful Solutions For The
Mobile Display Marketplace TORONTO ? March 22, 2005 ? Luxell Technologies
Inc. (TSX:LUX) announced today the signing of a joint development agreement
with Organic Lighting Technologies (OLT), LLC of Austin Texas to develop an
Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) white backlight device for enhancement of
full colour LCD flat panel displays. OLT's innovative proprietary organic
thin film processes and packaging techniques provide innovative backlighting
solutions targeting the high volume manufacture of flat panel displays for
mobile phones and other hand held and mobile devices.
Under the terms of the agreement, the parties plan to develop engineering
prototype and production white OLED backlight devices. Through its in house
state-of-the-art thin-film fabrication facility, Luxell will provide its
infrastructure and expertise in flat panel display technology to complete the
fabrication and testing of the OLED devices. OLT will contribute its white
OLED backlight product design for full color small area and mobile phone
LCDs.
OLT's processes significantly improve LCD color quality and brightness,
reduce backlight manufacturing and assembly costs and produces a display that
takes up less space in hand held/mobile devices where space is at a premium.
The key markets for the OLED backlight will target mobile phones, digital
cameras, camcorders, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and defence and
avionics applications. The companies expect to have a white OLED backlight
assembly for full color LCD mobile phones available in Q3 2005.
The market for consumer automotive and industrial OLED flat panel display
components is expected to grow to USD $3.0B by 2008. The full color mobile
phone backlight market alone was worth over USD $2B in 2004. Luxell and OLT's
strategic plan is to license and support technology transfer of the OLED
backlight into commercial and military markets worldwide.

Luxell has been selected as a top submission to present its flat panel
display contrast enhancement and enabling OLED technologies, including
details of its strategic partnership with OLT, at the upcoming World’s Best
Technologies 2005 Showcase being held on March 29-30, 2005 in Arlington Texas.
